Grzegorz Layer designs minimalist yet joyful apartment for young couple in Katowice
A young couple approached architect Grzegorz Layer and ask him to redesign their apartment into a comfortable and timeless home.
“The main idea of this project was to create a comfortable flat for a young couple. The open space, unrestricted by any construction elements, allows to create an individually selected functional arrangement. The whole interior is divided into a day-time part with open kitchen and dining room, and a private part consisting of a bedroom with ensuite bathroom and toilet. A large curtain hiding the bedroom gives a sense of intimacy and cosiness. The bright colours and minimalist geometry of the rooms emphasise the spacious character and openness of the flat. A uniform, smooth floor was used in all rooms. The use of two vivid colours highights its distinct functional parts and revives the interiors. Accents in the form of natural materials – stone and wood, also appear on the walls and in individually designed veneered furniture. Large windows leading to the terrace with a view of the park and the pond have also been exposed,” explains Grzegorz Layer
